Have a break in Bihor Mountains , at Remetea! You can admire a wide variety of nature wonders by walking the tourist routes of this area. Remetea is a commune situated in Bihor county, Romania, 7 km north from Beius town. It is near to the Meziad stream, in Depresiunea Beiusului or the Lowlands of Beius.
The History
Located in the most beautiful valley of the Biharian Mountains the village has a very old Hungarian history going back to 1520, it used to belong to Belenyes City. Wellknown, big name Hungarian families owned the village for hundreds of years, and later it became the property of the greekcatholic Bhishops. Today, 60% of the habitants are ethnic Hungarians and 40% are Romanians.
Local Heritage
Was built in Romanian style, it was rebuilt in the 14th century. It was renovated again in the 19th century.
Water mill
There is a functioning watermill from 1642 which was renewed recently.
Natural treasures
- The stalactite cave at Meziad: It is located 5 Km East from Remete.
- A more than 400 years old oak tree.
